Our vacation started at Dusseldorf airport – Emirates flight EK56 – departed half hour later at 15h55 – with destination Dubai. Arriving at Dubai airport round about 24h, a smooth flight with little over 6 hours flight time. Immigration check was less relaxing – never seen such queues before 😅 – so after catching a taxi we arrived at our Canal Central Dubai hotel at 2h30 😏 … no stress we are on holiday 😎 !
The hotel is located in the business bay – about 3 km’s from the famous Burj Khalifa – world highest building – with its stunning 828 m to the TOP.
From the hotel swimming pool you have above amazing view. Some other impressions from the surrounding area at the hotel.
The last picture is from our window view – in the distance you can spot the Burj Al Arab – the 7* hotel. The night view is stunning from the water front at the hotel … the Burj Khalifa rising to the stars.
During the afternoon we visited the Dubai Mall. Impressive, big, exclusive, … a must visit … with the impressive in side aquarium
Dubai is further building on the future – their next project is showcased in the mall – world highest ever builded construction – The Dubai Creek Tower – expected to be ready in 2021 …
Some pictures of the waterfall inside …
We spent 2 hours – for a non shopper like me 😔 – enough … before we went to the level 43 skylounge at the four points hotel. From this place you have a great view over the Sheikh Zayed road – just arrived before sun set. During reservation ask a seat with view on the road – you get amazed of the sunset and the color changes on the buildings. A nice place to make long exposure shots … some pictures from this nice evening with cold drinks (happy hour from 6 till 8 pm) and we had a good Arabian mixed grill. Congrats to Olga and her team.
After a early wake up and breakfast we enjoyed the early sun – relaxing at the swimming pool … for a quick snack you can order order at the pool – the fresh guacamolo & tortillas where perfect for a fast bite 😉
In the late afternoon we left in the direction of the Burj Al Arab … the out of the sea rising sail alike 321 m tall building – the most luxery 7* hotel in the world. Our first stop was at the public beach
From here we had a 30 min walk to the Souk madinat Jumereih. A nice place with a water channel (you can use the local Abra boats for a small tour – if you have a restaurant reservation they bring you to the restaurant with the boat for free) , small shops, bars and restaurants … during the day not worth to do it – but relaxing place for a drink and a dinner. We had off course a stop at the Belgian Beer café – for a 57 EAD Duvel and we ended our evening with a very good dinner at Pai Thai restaurant.
In the Souk you have a nice view on the Burj Al Arab.
and when the night is fallen – the building has colorfull lights …
The end of a perfect day … the first 2 days we where swimming on level 3 – sleeping on level 17 and having a nice view from level 43 – tomorrow we go for the highest … can’t wait 😄
Today we had several locations on the agenda – first we went to La Mer – a new Beach location with 2 public beaches, a water park, bars and resto’s – it has a trendy look – a lot of details – graffiti art
for sure a must see – during the day you can relax on the beach (for those who love) – we had a refreshing smoothie
In the evening you can enjoy the food, …. and another view on the Dubai skyline with the Burj Khalifa as central point of attention ….
From here we took the taxi to Deira – the oldest part of Dubai – here you can find the famous Gold Souk
A lot of other small shops and the good smelling Spice Souk …
An intresting place for photography 😉
From here you can take the water taxi for 1 EAD to get to the other side of the Dubai Creek where you can find the Dubai Museum and the Bastakiya Quarter for smelling some old history …
At 19h30 we where expected at the Armani Hotel and took the elevator from the lobby to level C.
From the front of this hotel you get a dizzying view to the top of the highest building …
after taking the elevator to level 123 in a few seconds (10 m/sec) – you take the stares 1 level down to the At.mosphere – highest restaurant in the world …. it is giving you a breathaking view ….
overthere we had a 3 course dinner … if you are in Dubai – for us a once in a lifetime must do
Today it was hot – 39°C and more in the sun … still had the Burj Khalifa Fountain show on my agenda …. we had seen it from level 122 – but wanted to have a close view from the Dubai Mall. In the afternoon they have 3 shows at 13h00 – 13h30 and 14h00 – on Friday’s one hour later. The evening sessions start at 18h00 till 23h00.
The show only lasts for 5 minutes – before you blink your eyes it is done … not worth visiting only the fountain show …
The Burj Khalifa and me 😄
In the late afternoon we left for direction to the Dubai Marina – on the way we stopped over at the Mall of Emirates. Here you find shops, restaurants, Magic World and the famous indoor Ski of Dubai. Outside 39°C – inside – 4°C ☃️❄️
The Marina Walk – a boulevard – at the yacht – where you can spent a relaxing evening – with a lot of restaurants. Nando’s is a perfect spot to take beautifull pictures of the buildings.
From here you can take also guided boat tours – rent a yacht – … realy a place for the water lovers …. and when the evening falls the night starts …
The night we ended at the hotel bar – Lilly’s social house
Cheers …. and final some pictures of the hotel pool at night …
The early morning sunrise …
the hotel offers a wide variety breakfast buffet … the terras outside …
at the same place you can have your evening dinner …
today they organized a pool party – live dj – food bar with deliciuous burito’s – corn and beef burgers – complimentary cocktail …
At 15h30 we where picked up for our safari – big business in Dubai – in total 37 camps are located in the desert to entertain customers. In total you are put with 7 customers in a jeep – 3 Gentlemen from India – 2 ladies (mother & daughter) from South-Africa and 2 Belgium guests 😎. The ladies where put in the back – but this was not taking into account the South African “mama” – 5 minutes after we left of their pick up – the 3 Indian gentlemen where put in the “back” – she wanted to be threated with respect and “organized” better places for the ladies – luckely I could sit in the front with my long leggs 😅.
From Dubai it is about 1 hour drive to one of these camps – where you have to change Jeep for starting some sand dune bashing.
That is the really fun part – it gives a kick – and “mama” was screaming 😂 … arrived in the camp – you can have soft drinks – tea – coffee – you can do long/short camel or horse ride – quad drive – henna tattoo – local dress pictures – alcohol drinks – BBQ food …. depending your package included or with extra charge. Also for seating you have the possibility to have better seating and food serve (50 EAD/p). If you take “ground” seating you have to queu for the food.
My wife had a “big” painting at her leg … the food is basic – some cold starter – and afterwards chicken BBQ (they also serve veg). The evening is filled up with some dance and fire show ….
the sunset and full moon in the desert where beautifull – round about 21h we where back at the hotel.
Our last and final day in Dubai – tomorrow we leaf back to Belgium. The hotel is offering spa massage – has a fitness center – Barista coffee bar – ….- you can even rent a Ferrari or Lamborghini
the hotel reception …
From Emirates we have received complementary tickets for La Perle by Dragone show at Al Habtoor city – proximit to our hotel. So at 16h our show started – it was breath taking – spectacular ….
We had a lovely week – Dubai pleased us – you can combine a relaxing time with time for exploration/discovery/…. – thx to the Canal Central staff who served us well !
